Pump station

Hello,

I am modelling a water system on SWMM5 for my master thesis. This water system has 5 pumping stations. In the real system each pump is located inside a hole(4 to 5 meters under the ground). But I could not simulate this in SWMM5 , I only have a pump with an inlet and outlet and when I simulate the model the inlet of one of them get flooded. This one is the biggest pump station in the area of my research and never had a problem with flooding. My question is: is the way that I have simulated the pump correct or not? Is there any other way to do so?thank you.

  • If you can show us the model it might help resolve the issue.  It would be better to use a storage node so that there is an are for the pump to operate with during the simulation.

    • How can I provide you with the model? Can I upload model's file?

  • Hi,

    1. I use the normal junction for the inlet of the pump and I am not sure if it is right or not.

    2. Yes I have start and stop depths for each pump

    3. No there is no RTC and control rules for the pumps and pumps are considered as ideal pumps without any curve.

    Thank you for your time.

  • Hi, A few questions:

    1. are you using a Wet Well or Storage node for the inlet to the pumps,

    2. are you using Start and Stop Depths for each pump?

    3. are  you using RTC or Control Rules for the Pumps?
