Rainfall data file for rain gage

I want to use 3-hour rainfall data from 12-01-2002 to  05-31-2010 for my rain gage, but every time I ran the model, it always appears error 321 no data in rainfall interface file for gage or error 319 invalid format for rainfall interface file. How can I solve this problem? Can anybody make a small example of rainfall data input for my case? What is the format of it? I really appreciate it!!

  • I need help please, my question is how to input IDF curve result  data into SWMM 5 time series as intensity rainfall data? SWMM 5 can accept also volume data but i need to use intensity data instead.

Can anybody make a small example of rainfall data input for my case?

    • SWMM5 can use intensity and volume.  Regarding youri IDF data you can use the peak intensity and make a triangular hyetograph that goes from zero rainfall to IDF intensity back to zero rainfall.  Use the time of concentration as the time to the peak rainfall.

  • Helllo Mohd,  You must be using the same TS for two reasons in your model - look at the text inp file to check this.

    • solved thanks...

  • Hi there, any one have solved this,,,ERROR 158: time series for Rain Gage RG1 is also used by another object.

  • Hi there

I have a similar problem of the time series rainfall data to be import to EPA swmm 5

I attached here my excel data and I want to know Is this data is applicable in this case OR what can I do

    • Do you have 95 minutes - change that to hours:minutes and the use a 1 minute rainfall interval and it should work.

  • You needed to NOT use seconds in the user defined rainfall file, see the attached and edited version that works for me.  I am also including a small working model with your rainfall data in SI units

The temperature file needs this format, you have a different format

A user-prepared climate file where each line contains a recording station name, the year, month, day, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, and optionally, evaporation rate, and wind speed. If no data are available for any of these items on a given date, then an asterisk should be entered as its value.

  • Okay, can you post just your rainfall file here so I can take a look at it?  You need to upload the file.

    • Hi Bob, besides rainfall data, I also prepared wind speed, temperature and evaporation. But another problem appears: error 338: error in reading from climate file XXX. Could you please also have a look it to see if there is something wrong with it? Thank you!
In addition, I also attached time series T1 I made. I don't know if it's correct.
