Instability in SWMM

Of recent I started using SWMM and realized that at the begining of the simulations there are a lot of instabilities. Technically what are the reasons for these instabilities and how can they be minimized?

    Hi Aspach,

     

    A few ways to get rid of the instabilities are to use a hot start file so that the model starts with known heads and flows and

     

    Use the variable time step,

     

    Use a smaller overall maximum time step.
