Broomfield, Colorado USA, February 17, 2010 — MWH Soft, a leading global innovator of wet infrastructure modeling and simulation software and technologies, today announced that its president and chief operating officer, Dr. Paul F. Boulos, Hon.D.WRE, F.ASCE, has been selected for induction into the University of Kentucky College of Engineering Hall of Distinction for 2010. This great honor recognizes Dr. Boulos’s “distinguished service to the profession, outstanding character, and commitment to community service,” noted Dr. Thomas W. Lester, Dean of the College of Engineering. The Hall of Distinction was established in 1991 to recognize alumni whose distinguished careers have brought honor to the University and the College of Engineering. Although many are nominated annually, only 87 alumni have been named to the hall since its inception. Induction is the most prestigious honor given by the university to its alumni. Dr. Boulos will receive the award at a ceremony and dinner on April 23, 2010, at the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington. Dr. Boulos is one of the world’s foremost experts on water resources engineering and a leading global authority on drinking water distribution engineering, from hydraulics to water quality principles. He has published prolifically, co-authoring nine authoritative books, and more than 100 scientific publications carry his name. Acclaimed for his practical and scientific expertise and his extensive experience in both academe and the corporate world, Dr. Boulos has been a featured speaker at leading organizations in science, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. A Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), he has been honored by an impressive array of national and international scientific and engineering societies, government and research organizations and NGOs. Among these recognitions are technical awards for excellence in scholarship from the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Water Works Association and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In 2008, he became the youngest person — and one of only sixteen worldwide — to be awarded Honorary Diplomate status (Hon.D.WRE) by the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers. The designation, the academy’s highest honor, acknowledges eminence in the field of water resources engineering. In the same year, he was also awarded the prominent Ray R. Irani Pride of Heritage Award from the Lebanese American Foundation, and received Special U.S. Congressional Recognition for his outstanding and invaluable service to the community. In 2009, Dr. Boulos received one of America’s most prestigious awards, the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, for his outstanding contributions to our communities, our nation and the world. Dr. Boulos received his Doctorate, Master of Science, and Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky (Lexington) and a Bachelor of Science degree in General Science from the Lebanese American University (Beirut, Lebanon), which honored him as its 2008 Alumnus of the Year. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. About MWH Soft |
