Elevation info into subcatchments from backdrop file

Hi i have read the SMWW apps manual. This is a picture from that. Im using a map from autocad as a backdrop image. I have drawn my subcatchments on the area and everything looks fine except that I want the elevation info from the area like the picture above. My backdrop image is a elevationcurve map, can i get the elevation info from that into subcatchments properties so it shows like above?

If not how did they do to get the elevation info in there. Did they put it in buy hand one at a time?

thankfulll for all answers

  • Ok thank you, So the only way if i understand this now is that I get the avarage slope variabel for a certain area ( I know how to get it in cad so thats no problem). When I know the slope variabel I then put it in to properties for a certain subcatchment area. And a good way to split up my map in different subcatchments is to look att the slope differences so u try to get a subcatchment area with somewhere the same slope.

    Hi Bo,

The Graphical User interface of SWMM 5 is written in Delphi and does not have a GIS, CAD or  DEM, TIN or DTM component.  It can only calculate the area of a subcatchment or the length of a link and NOT extract an elevation from a TIN.  You need a GIS or CAD program to do that.  Sorry.
