Forced main

Hello!

I am trying to model system:

Storage unit (el 100.00), pump, and then forced main and then some outlet (el 104.00) where pipeline connects on gravity sewer system. Slope is always adverse so I am using Dynamic wave.

I started with storage unit, then with pump and then with nodes-forced main-nodes etc until node-force main-outlet. But, it doesn't work, node after pump has inflow, but force main after that node and everything after it doesn't have any inflow.

Do you know where I am missing something?

Thanks!

  • So in this way I can actually add pressure in node so it acts like joint in pipeline where elevation breaks, although there is no real node (manhole) in system? That's excellent idea, must admit.

But, would results change if that depth is something different? With bigger or lesser depth in node and with oscillations made by pump going on and off, that node can act like surge tank and change pressure in pipe (increase and decrease)? This difference shouldn't be of some bigger impact, but results theoretically should be different?

  • Thank You very much, this is great! Thanks again :)

  • Here is a version of your model with the surcharge depth, the flows are correct now in the force mains

  • Hi, did you raise the Surcharge Level of the node?   If you add a Surcharge Depth then the node can be under pressure when the pump turns on.
