Pesticides processes in SWMM

Hi evrybody,

I'm working on Pyrethroids in Urban Stream Sediments and I'm using SWMM.

I would like to know if there are equations in SWMM to simulate Photodegradation and hydrolisis processes.

Thank you in advance.

Angela

You need to be a member of SWMM 5 or SWMM or EPASWMM and SWMM5 in ICM_SWMM to add comments!

  • It does have 1st order decay and many treatment equations.  You would have to simulate Photodegradation within the constraints of the software.

    BTW,  I changed your title.

Subject:    Water Quality Treatment Removal Variables in SWMM5

The treatment variables for Water Quality in a SWMM 5 storage unit (Figure 1) can be either:

    1.       A Process Variable

    a.       HRT or Hydraulic Residence Time
    b.      DT or Time Step
    c.       FLOW or The Current Inflow
    d.      DEPTH or the Mean Flow over the Time Step
    e.      AREA or the Mean Area over the Time Step

    2.       Pollutant Concentration
    3.       Pollutant Removal based on the Removal of Other Pollutants

With a Wide Range of Treatment Functions (Figure 2).

  • I made a mistake: Photodegradation and not phytodegradation!

    Sorry.

    • Thank you for the useful information.

I have another question for you about wash-off equation: is it possible to introduce in SWMM an equation or I can only choose from the equation that there are inside?

      Thank you in advance.

      • You would have to recompile to insert a new equation. What does your equation look like?

        • Imagine any type of equation. Polynomial, or logarithmic, anything. Does SWMM allow the user to include any equation? Does the question I need to answer.
